Ever tried to imagine life in the trenches? How did soldiers cope with being far from home, in the cold, especially during festive days? Alan Wakefield, Head of First World War & Early 20th Century Conflict at Imperial War Museums, will talk about the British soldiers’ experiences of Christmas during the Great War. The lecture will explore the topic through letters, diaries and memoirs of soldiers serving in the Western Front, the Balkans, Italy and the Middle East between 1914 and 1918. Introduced by Kieran Burns, curator, House of European History Moderated by Chris Burns, journalist Language: English Register here.
